Work About Summertime

Fresh Water Fishing -Essay, By Roy A.

The best time to go fishing is 3 am in the morning.  To prepare to go lake fishing I take fishing pole, tackle box, and live bait.  I use minnows which I get at the bait shop.  You can buy them for $6.00 a dozen.

I wear waders which are black rubber boots which go all the way up to my chest.  These waders are for walking out into the lake.  My grandfather taught me to fish in the shallow waters of the lake because this is a good place to find Bass and Trout and Crappies.

To begin I hook the minnow through the back of the hook and then I cast very lightly so the fish doesn't die through the wind pressure.  It's important to be quiet to catch the fish.

I don't cast until I reach the spot I want to stand.  It's usually still dark at this hour of the morning so I have a head lamp.I strap the head lamp onto my head. It usually doesn't take long to catch a fish.

I take anything home with me I catch and usually I get about 10 fish.

Fresh Water Fishing - Poem,  By Roy A.

Three in the morning

When the fish are biting

Is the best time to lake fish

Grab your pole,

Grab your bait

A dozen worms make a great date

When the fish are biting

Wear some waders, nothing fancy

In shallow waters you can find

Bass,

Trout,

Crappies,

When the fish are biting

A head lamp will help

In the wee hours of morning

For darkness still awaits

You can take home one,

Maybe ten,

Even more,

When the fish are biting

Skipping Stones by Peter O

Water  ripples of skipping stones glide across the water

They travel on from pond to pond making indents in the water

They fly up high, like birds in skies but cannot help but wonder -

If stones can fly like birds up high

And birds can fly but not know why

And aqua moves all by itself but cannot help but try -

If stones will never sink or fall

And water never moves at all

And birds will never cease their craze

For something nothing knew exists

It's pointless even trying

Fluffy Tails by Nick G.

Some kids remind me of

Squirrels.

Squirrels like to fight with each other.

They charge at each other, they steal from each other

They crash into bushes.  When they 're upset,

They sound like a baby

They can be silly and greedy.  It's fun to watch them

Play in the trees.  They seem free as a breeze.

They have fur coats so they can stay warm outside.

Squirrels live in trees...and the can look down on us.
