Work About Family
We encourage our students to give expression to their thoughts and feelings about their families. Below are a selection of poems Eagleton students have written about their families.
A Hard Life By Joshua
I lived a hard life That nobody could live Kids made fun of me because I was a little too big This is the story of my life, yeah, That's right I am a smart kid I just need to learn how to use it I can behave, I just need to prove it I'm doing my best to check myself So I can go back with grams and do my best To become the best Like my brothers who's been laid to rest After fighting the war Even though my hearts a little sore, I'll still remember my brother that fought for the world.
Ode To Franklin By Brian
This man was a good man who never sat in front of a fan He was a worker, 7 to 3 shift, yet worked beyond with strength and thrift This man is my uncle, the greatest of all uncles, who taught me to never play Bloody knuckles, work with your mind, not with your fist Be honest and true, so much on the list He got up early and went to work, but he never got there For one morning he was gone, hit by a drunk driver at dawn I said my goodbye, Six years later Had a memorial at Eagleton and stopped being a hater To those who left me behind unable to mourn Now, I've done the mourning and the grieving, ain't no deceiving I hope he remembers me as I walk up those stairs And takes my hand next to God to show he cares Together again, above in Heaven
My Mom By Michael
I love my mom. I miss my mom. I like when my mom calls me. She asks about my life. We talk about our visits.
To My Mother: Love Be to Lori By Nick H.
Love be to Lori through good times and bad, love be to Lori. Though I never met my dad, love be to Lori, she gave me my life. Love be to Lori for all the tears she had cried staying up late wishing she died. Love be to Lori for trying her best. Love be to Lori God knows I'll love my mother no less!
