Behavior Management System

Achieving Good Behavior Through Positive Reinforcement

The Behavior Management System at Eagleton School is guided by the principles embodied in the Non-Abusive Psychological and Physical Intervention Program (NAPPI). This program has been very successful at Eagleton School for a number of years and at other programs nationwide. It is a program that creates a positive atmosphere, common language, and verbal defusing skills that nearly eliminate the need for restraints. NAPPI skills are taught to the staff members and students to create an atmosphere of trust and safety and aid tremendously in creating a calm and quiet learning environment.

A Level System is also utilized to track each student's daily progress in the areas of peer interactions, classroom performance, and participation. The progress is tracked every fifteen minutes throughout the day. Points are earned and levels are reached through good behavior. There are four levels; the higher the level, the more privileges a student acquires. It is a positive reinforcement system that also provides a daily record of the student's progress toward his or her goals.
