Classroom Environment

Classroom Settings Designed to Meet Various Educational Needs

class3Eagleton has nine self-contained classrooms. Each class has a student to staff ration of five to one. This low student to staff ratio provides for individualized instruction by licensed teachers who strive to meet the needs of each student according to an approved Individualized Education Plan. There are never more then eight students per classroom, and never more than a three year age difference between students. The students are constantly surrounded by professional staff members with positive attitudes and therapeutic backgrounds.

Experienced therapists, special education teachers, teaching assistants, nurses and supervisors continually reinforce positive behaviors and improve academic as well as social skills. Steady enrichment of each student's emotional, creative, and intellectual perspectives lead to positive changes in behavior and refocus thinking towards the fundamentals that are required for success in the mainstream setting.

Taking Learning Beyond the Classroom

The Eagleton School campus setting is an integral part of the Education Program. The Organic Horticulture Program, the Therapeutic Equine Program, and the Adventure Based Counseling Ropes Course take full advantage of the campus’ spectacular landscape and provide students with meaningful activities designed to improve self-image and social interaction skills. The Education Program at Eagleton School gives each student the opportunity to learn that self-confidence is the first step toward academic progress, as he learns to actively participate in his own Individualized Education Plan.
